Daycare Program

OLPH Childcare is a Catholic childcare centre where the Catholic faith is integrated into all aspects of programming.

We believe that children learn best in a play based environment in an atmosphere of love, enthusiasm, and fun.

Each child is a unique individual who requires a secure, caring and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and learn.

Combining a program that is child centered and structured, we provide experiences that promote positive development in each child’s social, physical, emotional and cognitive growth.

Our educators work together to ensure a comfortable, physical environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and initiative a sharing of ideas.

activities and themes enrich the program with fun, exciting, interactive and hands on learning experiences for the children.

Providing a curriculum that is based on the children’s interests allows them to feel confident and encourages them to learn more.

The programs have a variety of activities, materials, toys, resources and manipulatives that are provided to foster growth in all developmental areas.

Our Classroom

All of the areas and the activities encourage and strengthen the social, emotional, intellectual, physical and the language development of each child through learning, interaction between peers and

caregivers, risk taking, play and age and skill level appropriate resources.

Indoor Free Play

The children will have access to all of the activities in the room.  All play areas will be open and there will be an arts/crafts table set up to provide the daily art activity.  Play areas include dramatic

play, block area, books/puzzles/game, colouring table, art/craft and writing table.

Table Toys and Activities

Children can play at tables with play dough, lacing activities, sensory bins, puzzles, matching games, etc. The children work with quieter voices and calmer bodies when playing with table toys.

Fine motor skills and sensory development are key aspects of table toys and activities.

Group Time

Group time is where children learn abou the calendar (month, day, date, year, and special days), the weather, and the season.  Children listen to a story, engage in movement, doing activities that

follow the monthly theme, sing songs, and play group games.

Outside Time
Active play and physical movement is incorporated throughout daily routines and activities consisting of un-facilitated play and facilitated games and activities.  These activities target fundamental

movement skills of balancing, coordination and loco motor.  We also have a playground and a spacious field for unstructured play which develop children’s play and social skills.
